XR for Amputee Rehabilitation and Training

Virtetic

About This Course

This course is designed to provide clinical practitioners and people with lived experience with a comprehensive understanding of Extended Reality (XR) technology and its effectiveness on amputee rehabilitation and training. Built upon scientific research, the expertise of world-leading professionals and direct feedback from user experiences, we have developed this course to share our knowledge and demonstrate why we believe in XR technology for rehabilitation and training purposes.

You will first explore the different methods used in amputee rehabilitation and training, including traditional and novel approaches. You will then hear from different stakeholders and their perspectives on the use of XR technology within the rehabilitation space. We will introduce Virtetic’s core pillars of XR interventions – Embodiment, Agency, and Immersion – highlighting the wonders of the brain and its ability to resolve sensorimotor conflicts associated with limb loss or limb difference. Finally, you will learn about the application of XR technology in amputee rehabilitation and training; and how our innovations, Myo-Hand XP and Mobility XP, can transform outcomes of the rehabilitative journey by engaging in high-fidelity, gamified and goal-oriented virtual simulations. Knowledge checks and quizzes will be implemented throughout the course to help consolidate your learning.
